Locke becomes the object of a plot to steal Airwolf after a physician successfully conducts brain implant surgery which controls his thoughts and actions on NBC Universal's "AIRWOLF II" episode entitled "The Puppet Master." The story was written by Jordan Nicht and Gwin Tulpa and directed by Zale Dalen.

Jason Locke is romantically involved with Kate Howard, and during a weekend trip, they visit her old friend and ex-boss Dr. Sylvia Robertson at the Ridgemont Institute. Once a Company employee, Dr. Robertson researches alpha-wave and brain scan monitoring. Suddenly Locke is overpowered and placed under sedation. Dr. Robertson implants an S.B.M. (Selective Behavior Module) and programs him to steal Airwolf under the premise it will harm Kate. Though Kate protests, it becomes apparent she has also been fitted with an S.B.M. Locke returns to work and has St. John, Jo and Mike placed in detention and takes Airwolf to the Institute. For a brief time, Locke regains normalcy and places Airwolf under security lock. When he refuses to give the access code, the Leader approaches and takes control of the S.B.M. causing Locke excruciating pain. He is told that Leader was created by Dr. Robertson as the answer to the world's problems. When Kate tries to escape, the Leader pushes a button and she is killed. Meanwhile, St. John, Jo and Mike escape detention and track down Airwolf's location. St. John manages to find Locke who is suffering hallucinations from the pain, while Jo and Mike fly Airwolf out of the warehouse. The Leader has Dr. Robertson strangled while he tries to monitor Locke. The minute that St. John flees the building with Locke who is unconscious, Airwolf destroys the Institute. The implant is removed from Locke's head...but the pain of Kate's death will take time to heal.
