St. John Hawke and an old friend from Vietnam discover a highly contagious and dangerous virus created by a madman intent on death and destruction on NBC Universal's "AIRWOLF II" episode entitled "The X Virus." The story was written by Lyal and Barbara Brown and directed by Ken Jubenvill.

St. John is visiting his friend, Dr. Tim Shimizu, who saved him from a bout with malaria during the Vietnam war. They receive word that Tim's father is dead and Tim discovers he died from a highly contagious synthetic virus. St. John and Tim decide his death ties in with Bar-Med Pharmaceuticals, the company which Tim's father owned after Barton Saunders' apparent suicide. Tim falls ill with the virus and St. John and Jo go inside Bar-Med. They find the files ransacked and St. John is hit by a dart infected with the virus - shot by a very much alive Barton Saunders. Saunders and his henchmen take St. John to an underground lab where he regains consciousness. Saunders is shocked that St. John is alive and discovers he is immune to the virus due to the previous bout with malaria. The virus - named Virus X is a virulent strain of malaria, and he intends to infect the populace...then cure them with another drug - if he so decides. Jo finds the lab but is caught. St. John and Jo manage to break loose -- but she is hit by a dart as Saunders makes his escape. A lab technician helps St. John administer an antidote to Jo. Airwolf destroys the lab with fire to extinguish the virus and chases down Saunders - destroying him and his canister containing the virus in an explosion.
