Stringfellow, Dominic, Caitlin and four students find themselves in great danger when they are stranded in a Central American jungle in NBC Universal’s "AIRWOLF" episode entitled "Short Walk To Freedom." This episode was written by Robert Blees and Dorothy Robinson and was directed by Virgil Vogel.
Four American students have won a two-week vacation trip to Quinzumel to explore Mayan ruins with Ozzie Hathaway who is the museum archaeologist.
Caitlin is flying them to their destination in Central America.
The former protectorate used to produce a lot of coffee beans, but now it is famous for the Mayan temples just discovered in the dense and steamy jungle.
After Caitlin lands on the primitive landing strip and has the plane unloaded, Hawke says goodbye to Caitlin and flies the plane back as arranged.
Comargo, their guide, drives the battered, ancient bus when they are suddenly surrounded by guerillas.
Caitlin and the students soon find themselves at the mercy of the armed men, their leader Colonel Alzar, and their treacherous guide, Comargo.
The situation is made even more dangerous by the archaeologist Hathaway who suddenly becomes very greedy.
All this and the recently stepped-up guerilla activities prompt immediate action from Archangel.
He dispatches Stringfellow and Airwolf to the Central American jungle location to rescue the young explorers and Caitlin.
