ADVERTISEMENTS
When one of Hawke's friends is denied retirement benefits and in revenge threatens to divulge sensitive information, Hawke attempts to bring the ex-employee to his senses on NBC Universal’s "AIRWOLF" episode entitled "Severance Pay." This segment was directed by Sidney Hayers and was written by Chester Krumholz.

Determined to enjoy their leisure time, Larry Mason and Joe Klein had planned to use their retirement bonus checks to buy a small business in Mexico. Suddenly they find that their retirement benefits are denied. When Joe is told that they are classified temporary employees and not entitled to full benefits, he gets so exasperated that he collapses and dies of a heart attack. Larry is not only heartbroken over the loss of his friend; he is also very disturbed about the unfair way they have been treated. He is determined to get even with the Firm, and sets an explosion in one of the government buildings. Hawke is brought in by Michael Archangel and the Firm's Committee to find his friend Larry Mason who is now considered a threat to national security. It doesn't take Hawke long to realize that there is an additional security leak somewhere in the Firm -- maybe even a mole in the Committee!
