Hawke becomes the hunted prey on an African Hunt Club reserve when he goes in search of a friend who disappeared after escaping from the county jail on NBC Universal’s "AIRWOLF" episode entitled "Sweet Britches." The episode was written by series executive producer Donald Bellisario and was directed by Alan J. Levi.
This episode introduces new series' regular, Caitlin O'Shannessy (JEAN BRUCE SCOTT) known as "Sweet Britches."
She is a feisty, bright, pretty, freckle-faced redhead in her mid-twenties, and she is a deputy who flies a helicopter for the Texas Highway Patrol Aerial Division.
Sheriff J.J. Bogan, Jr. of Pope County, Texas confronts Caitlin O'Shannessy, a deputy for the Texas Highway Patrol, over an injured escaped prisoner.
Bogan takes the prisoner into custody.
At the same time, Hawke goes in search of a close friend, James Blake, who has not been heard from after breaking out of Pope County jail where he was confined for trespassing.
In Airwolf, Hawke and Dominic come upon some local heavies who are trying to kidnap Caitlin, and force them to let her go.
Hawke then enters the town's bar and introduces himself as James Blake, a hitchhiker whose car and identification were stolen.
Bogan applies a few well-placed punches to Hawke's kidneys and arrests him for vagrancy.
Meanwhile, Dominic waits for Hawke's call in the desert -- having camouflaged Airwolf in a dry river bed.
All of a sudden he notices he is surrounded by a pride of African lions, cooling themselves in Airwolf’s shade.
It becomes apparent that they are in the middle of the "African Hunt Club Ranch."
The next morning, Caitlin presents writs for the arrest of the men who tried to kidnap her, and also to see the 'injured prisoner.'
She searches the cells and finds Hawke, allowing him to telephone Dominic to bail him from jail.
At that point, the sheriff enters and has Caitlin thrown in jail.
He admits James Blake is dead, and takes Hawke out to the desert where he will become the next live game on the Hunt Club's schedule.
While Hawke is running for his life pursued by the newly deputized Buddy and Sam Houston, (owner of the reserve) Bogan sends four men into the jail to 'take care' of Caitlin.
Houston and Buddy spot Hawke and begin firing, yet Airwolf appears just in time.
Dominic and Hawke head back to jail and demand Caitlin's release.
The Sheriff complies yet shoots his deputy as he helps Caitlin into her helicopter.
Hawke turns Airwolf around and opens fire -- blowing up the jail and Bogan.
Caitlin follows Hawke recognizing his voice from the jail cell and tells him he must be questioned; yet Airwolf turbos off.
Caitlin decides to go in search of the elusive Stringfellow Hawke.
