CBS has ordered beaucoup changes in "Airwolf" for the second season.
Executive producer Don Bellisario, who isn't happy about it, has been told to phase out "The Firm" (a euphemism for the CIA, one suspects), to say nothing of Archangel, the Firm's covert action boss, and Archangel's collection of white suits, in favor of "domestic" stories, rather than "foreign."
He's also added Jeanie Bruce Scott to the cast as a love interest for Stringfellow Hawke (Jan-Michael Vincent). She'll be introduced as a sort of flying meter maid for the Texas Highway Patrol who joins Santini (Ernest Borgnine) as a helicopter pilot.
Also headed for the boneyard: Stringfellow's cello and those evocative shots of a snow-dusted Monument Valley when Airwolf pops up out of its cave (they're filming summertime shots of Monument Valley instead).
Bellisario grumbles that restricting plot lines to domestic-type enemies puts "Airwolf" back in the box with all those other action adventures on the air.
