"Airwolf," the new CBS-TV action adventure starring starring Jan-Michael Vincent and also starring Ernie Borgnine and Alex Cord, and featuring the most advanced helicopter in existence, will debut after the Super Bowl, Jan. 22, at 9 p.m. on the CBS network.
Vincent will portray Stringfellow Hawke, a former Vietnam chopper pilot and the only man in the free world trained to fly the billion-dollar helicopter Airwolf, the most advanced craft of its kind.
Borgnine plays the part of Dominic Santini, best friend of Hawke's departed father, who raised Hawke from a young boy and is now his employer as owner of a helicopter service for hire. Cord plays the deputy director of the CIA in the pivotal role of Michael Archangel.
"Airwolf" is based on ultra-state-of-the-art helicopter aircraft capabilities of today and those that are possible in the technological near future, blending the acting talents of the two leads into realistic high-adventure situations.
While the fictional craft is the product of a billion-dollar covert development operation, Universal's Airwolf will actually include design and stealth capabilities that have up to now been kept under wraps by the government, according to the producers.
